The polyethylene resin is FDA approved which makes these tanks safe to store potable water. The 16-inch vented lid provides ample room to fill tanks without spilling and to clean them as well. Use the gallon calibrations that are molded into the tanks to quickly calculate content levels and how soon tanks will need to be filled again. Tanks are available in white, green and black. To slow down the growth of waterborne algae, it is best to store water in darker storage tanks. This is a 1.2 specific gravity tank.
